Since the Taipei Veterans General Hospital was founded in 1959, all staff members of the hospital have abided by the philosophy of “treating patients like family, pursuing excellence, honoring ethics, complying with the law, and being trustworthy.” They have devoted themselves to providing state-of-the-art medical services, and nurturing teaching and research talent to meet international requirements. Taipei Veterans General Hospital is not only the largest public medical center in Taiwan but is also a key medical research site worldwide.
The hospital has nearly 3,000 beds, more than 540 specialist physicians, and more than 6,000 employees. Except for providing outpatient services for 2.6 million outpatient visits and inpatient care for 110,000 patients every year, it has been designated to provide the highest quality of medical care to the leaders of the country and business firms of Taiwan.
The high standard of medical services here is not only trusted by local Taiwanese but also patients from overseas, including overseas Chinese, who visit each year due to the good reputation or due to referral for treatment. In 2010, our hospital had around 25,000 patient visits from foreigners residing or traveling in Taiwan. The number of people from the other side of the Taiwan Strait to seek medical care here has also been on the rise in the past few years. Meanwhile, well-trained medical teams have been actively taking part in medical aid and emergency rescue missions around the globe. The farthest places that our teams have set foot include deserts in Africa, islands in the South Pacific, and areas devastated by the South Asian tsunami. Recently, the biggest earthquake for the last 100 years hit Sichuan Province and the rescue taskforce of our hospital arrived in the affected areas within three days to work with local medical and rescue teams and help survivors in their hour of need.
In the process of development, the Hospital has received a lot of assistance from the international community, which has enabled us to grow stronger day by day. Now we are heading into our 50th year and it is our hope that we can return these favors. Therefore, this year we have established an International Medical Service Center to integrate abundant medical resources and introduce quality medical services to international community so that more people with medical needs can access better care. In average, the cost of medical services is roughly 20~30% lower than in European, British, and American countries.

..compliments on a job well done. Keep it up!
First time in Taipei and truly a heart-warming stay and treatment.
Our daughter suffers minor seizures from early childhood which became less so we decided it was safe to travel abroad with her. At the Yitsun Hotel spa in Taipei when she showed signs of beginning seizure. We did our research before coming and knew we had to rush to Taipei Veterans Hospital having good reputation for seizre treatment. We called their emergency, were received by the doctor immediately. Doctor and his assistants relieved her symptoms and examined her thoroughly. He recomended us have brain stimulation surgery to eliminate seizures and gave a very detailed explanation of the procedure and recomendations for further treatment. Medical care was fully covered by our insurance plan, so we returned home safely and without any additional charges. We are now planning to go to Mayo clinic for surgery. God bless us!
